The gifts we receive are immeasurable. This connection calls us to a deeper understanding of the global Church, inspiring us with the devotion and resilience of our brothers and sisters, enriches our community, strengthens our faith, and gives us new purpose right here at home.
“This partnership with El Salvador has changed me. It has opened my eyes to the breathtaking beauty of God’s family across the world. Even without speaking the same language, we recognize one another as sisters and brothers, joined by a love deeper than words. Walking together, we have discovered hope, resilience, and joy. This relationship makes the world feel smaller, warmer, and full of God’s light. It is a gift that has touched my soul and forever expanded my sense of what it means to belong to the body of Christ.”
– Pastor Chris Manke, Outreach For Hope
For me, accompaniment means connections. I feel connected to the people in El Salvador even when we are many miles apart. On my last visit, I met two women who are Directors of schools near our partner church. These women have the same job as I do in Menomonee Falls. Together we know the struggles of families, of students and of the teachers in our schools. We are connected in the work we do, the care we give, and the love we share. It may look different in each of our schools, but the work, the care and the love all come from the same place, our faith in God. The connections I made with these two amazing women remind me that I am not alone, that my work is greater than the walls of my school.

Our partnership is like an extended family. Guided by the tenets of accompaniment, we have formed deep relationships and celebrate in one another’s successes and joys, and hold one another in prayer and support during times of difficulty and sorrow. Our partnership has also served as a catalyst for our church’s involvement in local issues impacting immigrants not just from El Salvador, but all countries.

Partnership is being there for each other, in the joys and the sorrows.
Partnership builds community through shared work which can be hard and full of challenges, but through the work and the struggle, we grow closer in friendship, trust and love.
- Linda Muth, All People's Gathering
I like visiting our sister parish to learn about other cultures, to make new friends, and to see what church is like in other countries. I learned how other churches take care of the environment.

Partnership to me is about growth – growing in understanding, in perspective, in humility, in love, and in faith. In every interaction and experience with our partners at Pan De Vida Lutheran Church and at Casa Esperanza (a ministry serving those who are homeless) I am inspired and energized by their faith that is grounded in love. a passion for justice, and an ability to find joy, even in the midst of challenges.
