ELCA Tanzania Consultation August 26-28,2026

The ELCA has invited the Greater Milwaukee Synod to participate in the ELCA 2026 Global Mission Consultation in Arusha, Tanzania with a focus around accompaniment and what it means to be church together. 

We are in  the initial stages of discernment and planning, which includes how we identify folks to participate and how costs will be covered. 

Up to three delegates from the Greater Milwaukee Synod will be invited to attend the Consultation with Bishop Paul Erickson.  Delegates can be clergy, lay, youth, educators, synod staff, etc.  We expect the delegates will also spend a few days in the Diocese of Meru, before or after the Consultation.

The ELCA will cover the cost of the consultation days together (local transport, lodging, meals, etc.) The Diocese of Meru will be responsible for the cost of days together in the diocese.  Delegates will be responsible for airfare costs.  The Greater Milwaukee Synod Meru Ministry Team may possibly have funds available for delegates that could not otherwise cover the cost of travel.

Bishop Paul Erickson will be sharing an overview of the Consultation during Partners With Meru Monthly Meeting on  January 10, 2026.
